Airbus Tactilon Dabat awarded for innovative security

A 2018 Intersec Award has been won by the Airbus device Tactilon Dabat.

The Tactilon Dabat device, a secure Android smartphone and TETRA radio in one, has won the category ‘Innovative Security Product of the Year’ in Dubai.

The Security, Safety and Fire Protection Middle East Awards were held at the Habtoor Palace in Dubai on 20 September. They honour industry’s best projects and products in the field of security in the Middle East.

“Once again the Tactilon Dabat has convinced experts for the path-breaking role it will take in the coming years. We are extremely grateful for this award because it signifies that we have developed a device that fits completely in the critical communication landscape in the Middle East,” said Selim Bouri, Vice-President and Head of Middle East, North Africa and Asia-Pacific for Secure Land Communications at Airbus.

The Tactilon Dabat, which has already won the International Critical Communication Awards this year, combines various security features that make it unique in the area of professional communication. It disposes broadband features and applications that have been specifically designed to provide best support for operations of public safety or industrial users.

The Tactilon Dabat serves as the platform of a multitude of highly useful applications certified by Airbus. These applications can be arranged individually on the Dabat according to the wishes of user organisations. Thanks to the Airbus applications developer program SmarTWISP, which was created to build an application ecosystem for the Tactilon Dabat, the number of new apps is increasing to offer a large variety of innovative communication solutions.

Furthermore, the smart device can be applied in various sectors: from police, military and fire brigades to rescue services, hospitals and industries, users can facilitate their daily operations. It can also easily be incorporated in existing and future security infrastructures, such as closed circuit television (CCTV) or artificial intelligence (AI), as the device allows secure access to essential intelligence source.

The Tactilon Dabat is being showcased at the CC MENA exhibition from 23–25 September and at GITEX from 14–18 October (both in Dubai).
