BAI Communications creates new CEO role for Broadcast Australia
A new CEO has been appointed by BAI Communications for its Broadcast Australia subsidiary.
Peter Lambourne will take on the role of CEO of Broadcast Australia, a newly created position to assist with BAI Communications’ strategic priorities.
BAI Communications Group CEO Jim Hassell will continue to focus on group-wide strategy, the performance of the group companies and future growth in the international transit and broadcast markets.
“I am delighted to announce Peter’s appointment as CEO of Broadcast Australia. As COO, Peter has already led a range of operational improvements and successful project delivery across much of Broadcast Australia’s business,” said Hassell.
Lambourne will focus on delivering the strategy of Broadcast Australia by continuing to position the business as a trusted industry leader and broadening its services to commercial and public broadcaster customers. He joined Broadcast Australia as chief operating officer in 2011, after previously working as managing director of Digital Distribution Australia for seven years.
“Broadcast Australia has been responsible for delivering television and radio services for Australia’s national broadcasters since 1928,” said Lambourne.
“I am incredibly honoured to be taking the helm of such a longstanding Australian business. Going forward, we will continue strengthening our digital broadcasting leadership with new services to meet our customers’ needs in this digital age.”
Broadcast Australia was recently honoured with the IABM International Award for Excellence in Sustainability. The company was recognised for successfully introducing a renewable energy solar PV solution at its Muswellbrook site in New South Wales.
This solution has allowed Broadcast Australia to provide up to 95% of the site’s power requirements through renewable energy whilst continuing to deliver quality broadcasting, radio and critical emergency services for its customers, plus over 50,000 end users within a 500 km radius.
Following on from this successful green initiative, Broadcast Australia will install a second solar solution at its Mount Owen site in Tasmania and is currently exploring other renewable energy projects throughout Australia.
