BroadGNSS Challenge extends deadline

BroadGNSS is a European pre-commercial procurement project (PCP) with a €2 million budget to procure applications, synchronisation and monitoring of critical mobile broadband communication infrastructure and information assets for public protection and disaster recovery (PPDR) operations.

Due to the lack of bids received on 2 May 2022, the group of procurers has decided to improve the competition by attracting more suppliers to the PCP and modifying the evaluation scheme as well as extending the deadline for submitting a proposal to 1 September 2022. Tender documents have been released and will be presented during a briefing and partnering event to be held at the French Ministry of Interior in Paris, on 16 June, in person and online. This will also be the occasion for industrial partners to present their expertise, meet potential partners and build consortia.

When a disaster occurs, communicating and coordinating response between agencies is vital. While most PPDRs can rapidly provide emergency assistance, they first need to receive information and guidance. The EU-funded BroadGNSS project will improve the mobilisation of PPDRs by using Europe’s satellite navigation overlay service and Galileo signals and operational advantages in downstream public safety applications.

The project will apply the pre-commercial procurement method to develop solutions for a wide range of application areas to meet capacity needs concerning accuracy, reliability, assurance and cost of positioning systems. BroadGNSS will ultimately assist in the creation of sustainable supply chains.
