ComGroup is celebrating the success of its apprentice technician, Theo Goslett, who won the Australian Radio Communications Industry Association’s (ARCIA) Apprentice Trainee Award 2011.

Each year ARCIA publicly recognises excellence from across the radio communications sector through its Industry Excellence awards, with the winners announced at its Industry Gala Dinner.

The award was open to all ARCIA apprentices and trainees, with the judges assessing each entry based on a range of criteria including commitment, performance, team work and development throughout the apprenticeship and training programs.

Theo won the award based on his performance since joining the ComGroup Apprenticeship program in 2009.

Alan Clarke, general manager of ComGroup, says, “Theo is an exceptional apprentice, setting a high standard across all aspects of his work. His appetite for learning, combined with his confidence and maturity, has meant he has quickly progressed and been able to take on more responsibilities and opportunities. Theo is a very worthy winner of this prestigious industry award, and I am sure this is just the start of a very successful career.”

On starting his apprenticeship, Theo initially worked in the company’s Scoresby Service Department, creating, repairing and servicing radio equipment. With exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills, 12 months into his training Theo wanted to expand his technical knowledge and moved to the Victoria engineering and product development team.

Since then Theo’s drive and enthusiasm to learn and develop his technical skills have seen him become a valuable member of the team, with his managers recognising his potential to become a leader of the future.

“My apprenticeship at ComGroup has given me a fantastic start to my career, allowing me to work across a diverse range of projects with some of the best engineers in the industry. I feel very proud to have won this award - not just for myself, but for all those people who have given me the training and support that have allowed me to develop my skills and progress as a technician,” comments Theo.
