Comms Connect 2013: papers deadline today
With 31 May the closing deadline for the Comms Connect 2013 Call for Papers now here, the conference organisers have seen a far larger number of submissions than previous years and are very encouraged by the response. At this stage, public safety appears to be the number one area of interest, with mining also particularly well supported in terms of number of submissions and scope.
Utilities and transportation have also seen a number of submissions with some great local and international case studies among them. Suggestions from the industry for an increased number of training workshops to take place in Melbourne this November have also been forthcoming, with the three-hour sessions likely to include some of the following topics, though they are yet to be confirmed:
- Wireless broadband for critical communications
- Advanced radio over IP
- In-building and DAS systems
- Infrastructure and towers
- Tetra network and design
“We’ve definitely seen a shift this year in terms of both the number and scope of papers being received,” said Paul Davis, Comms Connect event director. “This will be the event’s seventh year, although it’s first under the new name, and it appears that it is finally and truly resonating with all stakeholder groups.
“It would be fair to say that at this stage it looks as though the 2013 conference will be the strongest to date with half a dozen in-depth training workshops, invite-only roundtables, two days of general industry sessions and keynotes, with local and international appeal, and the largest exhibition we’ve held; it’s very exciting to watch it take shape,” said Davis.
With Public Safety having its own dedicated stream and workshops this year, the organisers are pleased to announce that Inspector (Ret.) Lance Valcour, O.O.M., Executive Director, Canadian Interoperability Technology Interest Group, will be joining proceedings to give a keynote address, chair one of the workshops and be on hand to advise local suppliers and interested parties about how best to operate within the Canadian marketplace.
The closing deadline is today, so to stand a chance of being considered, please contact the Comms Connect team today to express your interest or go to the Call for Papers section on the Comms Connect website and follow the guidelines to submit your paper online.
