Comms Connect comes to Brisbane, 30 July 2015
Together with ARCIA, Comms Connect will present a one-day conference in Brisbane on 30 July, featuring case studies, technical presentations and panel sessions, followed by networking drinks and ARCIA’s industry dinner.
A full program for the event will be available online this week, but those speakers already confirmed include:
- Dale Stacey, Director at SAT Pty Ltd, who will speak on an integrated free Wi-Fi and CCTV and WAN platform for councils.
- Jason Argent, State Operations Support Coordinator, Surf Life Saving Queensland, who will speak of the organisation’s state-wide radio migration from analog to digital.
- Phil Dowd, from Gravelroad, who will speak about DMR usage.
- Hamish Duff, President of ARCIA, who will outline some important research on the topic of the economic justifications for Australian emergency service organisations.
Two panel sessions will cover:
- Push-to-talk (PTT) over cellular — how viable are the available options for broadband or carrier operated PTT systems?
- Public vs private networks for Australian public safety agencies.
Plus there’ll be a case study on the Vale mining company’s operations in New Caledonia, with reference to how it ensures the maximum availability of the radio network needed to keep the mine site running 24/7.
The fourth ARCIA annual dinner in Brisbane will be held in the evening at Rydges South Bank and will include networking drinks on the veranda at 5.30 pm followed by a three-course formal dinner.
There’ll also be the presentation of the inaugural ARCIA Queensland Industry Achievement Award. The winner of the Queensland award will be nominated for a national award at the Annual Industry Gala Dinner taking place in Melbourne later this year. To nominate, email info@arcia.org.au.
