Dept of Comms on the move in Canberra

The Department of Communications and the Arts is shifting its Canberra office to new premises at 2 Phillip Law Street, NewActon.

The office has spent the past 19 years at 38 Sydney Avenue in Forrest.

The move will be complete, with all employees shifted to the new premises, by 7 August.

The Department’s PO Box remains the same — GPO Box 2154, Canberra, ACT, 2601.

The new building (called the Nishi building) is located in the heart of Canberra’s ‘cultural precinct’ and comes with a six-star Green Star energy efficiency environmental footprint rating.

The building came first in the International Project of the Year category at the 2015 Building Awards in London.

In a statement, the Department said that the move “gives our Canberra-based staff the opportunity to transform how we work”, with a new working space that will enable “more collaboration, with fewer offices and more bookable and non-bookable breakout spaces”.

The offices will also have improved videoconferencing and Skype technologies.
