Detector ‘unleashed’ at jail conference
A handheld mobile phone detector called the Wolfhound-PRO has been introduced to the American Correctional Association’s 2011 Winter Conference in the US. The Wolfhound-PRO is the third in a line of BVS's advanced, award-winning cell phone detection products and the most advanced in terms of sensitivity and features.
The device, by Berkeley Varitronics Systems, alerts security and correctional professionals to nearby mobile phone activity with a bright OLED screen and integrated vibration notification. The device runs on an internal Li-ion rechargeable power system for up to four hours enabling security personnel to continuously scan for all mobile voice, text or data transmissions.
The one-button illuminated trackball allows simple operation.
The detector can also be used in countries with a mixed set of frequencies, where US and EU frequencies are used in different geographic locations.
Coupled with it is a multiband DF antenna that makes the unit suitable for pinpointing the targeted mobile.
The device is designed to detect and find contraband phones without using jamming that can interfere with authorised communication channels or 911 emergency calls.
