DFAT to brief industry on ICT program
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) will hold an industry briefing on 10 October to advise on its $215.9 million, five-year International Communications Network (ICN) modernisation program.
DFAT’s communications network links more than 140 sites around the world and is an essential ingredient in the department’s operations to provide consular services and fulfil the government’s policy programs.
With the ICN program, the department aims to develop a more secure, cost-effective and reliable worldwide communications network to meet the needs not only of DFAT, but 45 other Australian government agencies.
The briefing will also cover the procurement process for the Approach to Market for the Wide Area Network Services contract, which is expected to be released in early 2014.
The briefing will take place at the Realm Hotel in Barton, ACT, and will be led by DFAT’s CIO, Mr Tuan Dao. Media and vendors will be briefed from 8.30 to 10.30 am, with the vendor briefing continuing until noon.
