Emergency Management Conference 2013
This year’s Emergency Management Conference will be held at the Pullman Melbourne Albert Park hotel in Melbourne, on Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 July. The theme is ‘Preparing Victoria’.
Over the last couple of years, numerous post-disaster inquiries and Royal Commissions have ushered in many changes and improvements in the funding, policy and operations of emergency services in all states. Victoria is leading in this area, especially with the imminent creation of its new overarching control body, Emergency Management Victoria (EMV). The eyes of all governments and emergency management agencies across Australia are on Victoria. Victoria’s recommendations will be closely scrutinised and largely adopted by other states.
The conference is expected to be attended by over 400 emergency management professionals from emergency services organisations, local, state and federal governments, community groups and industry.
The Emergency Management Conference (EMC) is the annual conference presented by the Emergency Services Foundation to provide a forum for the exchange of the valuable information gained by emergency services workers in the line of duty, and in research.
The conference is also the Emergency Services Foundation’s annual fund raiser to ensure it can continue to provide support to families of emergency service workers and scholarships for emergency services personnel to study relevant topics, and contribute to the various professions. An ever-growing trade exhibition showcases products of interest to the emergency services agencies at the conference.
The Conference Secretariat for 2013 is High Profile Events. Any inquiries should be directed to High Profile Events on 03 9596 6662.
