EMI and EMC fundamentals seminars available online

NASA recently held a two-day seminar on EMI Test & Measurement and Antenna Fundamentals, which is now available for viewing online.

Day 1 covered EMI Test & Measurement Principles, including calibration, transducer factors, the relationship between field strength and transmitted power, and more.

Day 2 covered Antenna Fundamentals for EMC Applications, focusing on antenna design and operation from an EMC perspective. The topics included the introduction of the geometric concept of a radiator, the Friis equation, getting power into and out of a radiator, and antenna gain. Different types of antennas used in EMI testing were described, as well as the most common types of unintentional antennas in electronic systems and tips for preventing them.
