ETSI appoints AI group leaders
ETSI’s recently formed Industry Specification Group on Securing Artificial Intelligence (ISG SAI) held its second meeting in the last week of January, during which it appointed Alex Leadbeater from British Telecom as its chair.
Also appointed was Dr Kate Reed from the UK NCSC as first vice-chair and Tieyan Li from Huawei as second vice-chair.
“I am delighted to be appointed as the chairman for this exciting new group. Ensuring the security of artificial intelligence is a vital topic that affects many stakeholders and I look forward to seeing what work the group produces as it begins its work program in earnest,” Leadbeater said.
The ISG SAI group was formed in October 2019 to develop specifications for tackling threats arising from the adoption of AI across diverse ICT-related sectors.
The group’s work will focus on methods of securing AI systems from attack, fighting back against malicious AI and using artificial intelligence to boost security measures.
The group will create:
- an AI threat ontology report to align terminology
- a problem statement that will guide the work of the group
- a data supply chain report outlining the methods used and risks associated with sourcing data for training AI
- a mitigation strategy report with guidance to mitigate the impact of AI threats, as well as security testing of AI.
The ISG SAI’s next meeting will take place in Sophia Antipolis on 2–3 April 2020.
