Free entry to Comms Connect exhibition and keynotes
The Comms Connect conference and exhibition in Melbourne is only days away, and it’s not too late to get involved and experience the event.
For the first time, you can get free entry to the exhibition space and sit in on the keynote presentations (although not the other speaker sessions) on both mornings, but only if you preregister via the Comms Connect website.
The exhibition will feature almost 100 companies, large and small, local and international, filling the giant hall and covering all aspects of the critical communications and public safety fields. You really should take the opportunity to come along and check out the latest communications equipment and services, talk to the vendors, find a supplier or maybe pick up some business for yourself.
The keynote addresses on the mornings of 1 and 2 October are not to be missed, as the organisers have assembled a high-power array of local and international experts.
On the first day, at 9 am, Deputy Chief Eddie Reyes (Alexandria Police Department, Virginia, USA) will give the opening keynote address on the topic of ‘Next Generation 9-1-1 (0-0-0): Are public safety agencies ready?’.
He will be followed at 9.45 am by Michael Hallowes (National Director, Emergency Alert Program, Department of Justice, Victoria), who will speak on the topic of ‘Emergency alert - reaching communities in disasters’.
Day two will begin with a keynote at 9.15 am by Giles Tanner (General Manager, Communications Infrastructure Division, ACMA), who will address ‘The challenges facing spectrum regulators in the new technology environment’.
He will be followed at 9.45 am by Shane Fitzsimmons AFSM (Commissioner, NSW Fire Service), who will speak on ‘The value of communication networks in a public safety environment’.
If you’re not sure at this stage whether you can make it, you’re still welcome to turn up on the day - but please note that if you do there will be a small registration fee … which is all the more reason to be prepared by preregistering for free.
And don’t forget that there will be dozens of other informative and important, not-to-be-missed presentations spread across the two days, which do require a paid registration.
