Harris lands ADF comms contract
Harris Corporation has won the tender to provide an integrated battlespace communication system for the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
Harris was selected by the Australian Government for the Land 2072 Phase 3 program, which is part of the Australian Army’s Networked Digitisation Plan.
Under the contract, Harris will provide an integrated tactical communications network for voice and data services to tactical forces over line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight applications.
The company will also provide tactical radios and other systems to the ADF.
The value of the contract was not disclosed.
“This agreement reinforces Harris’s status as a trusted partner and continues our long-standing commitment to providing the Australian Defence Force with secure communications and networking solutions,” said Alan Callaghan, president and managing director, Harris Defence Australia.
“Harris is proud to be part of such a pivotal program and to support the Australian Army’s continued modernisation efforts.”
Callaghan recently took up the leadership role at Harris Defence Australia, which is a new operation headquartered in Brisbane that combines the company’s defence-related operations in the region.
In this new role, Callaghan will be responsible for the company’s defence-related business development, marketing, operations, shared services and government relations in Australia.
“Alan’s expertise, track record of success and wealth of international leadership experience will help Harris expand its position in this important growth market,” said William M Brown, chairman, president and chief executive officer.
“Aligning our resources and efforts will enable us to provide an even higher degree of local support for existing customers and to develop new market specific solutions.”
With around 22,000 employees worldwide, Harris Corporation provides communication system, space and intelligence, and electronic systems, in addition to critical networks.
