Industry gathers for APCOA 2013
The region’s public safety communications professionals will gather in Adelaide next week for the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) Australasia’s 10th annual conference and exhibition, to be held 12 to 14 March at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
This year’s event has the theme ‘Breaking the status quo: freedom to try new thinking’. The three-day event will comprise keynote addresses from local and international leaders, Q&A panels with industry experts, workshops and two concurrent streams of presentations.
The keynote addresses will be a highlight of the conference. Catherine Caruana-McManus - Executive, Smarter Cities Australia and New Zealand, IBM - will speak on ‘Smarter Public Safety: The insight to identify, transform and progress’. Chris Cheah from the Australian Communications and Media Authority will give his views on the ‘Spectrum for future public safety communications: sufficient, scalable, strong’. Cameron Crampton, CIO of Ambulance Victoria, will discuss how enterprise data and communications are driving better patient outcomes. Anthony Goonan, Director, Network and Commercial Planning for Telstra, will be promoting the case for an integrated approach to 4G public and emergency telecommunications. And Bob Schassler, Senior Vice President for Motorola Solutions, will speak about ‘Building safer cities and communities that thrive’.
As well, an extensive exhibition hall will showcase all the latest technologies and communications solutions from over 40 vendors.
