Lapsley, Smart step down from APCOA
APCO Australasia has announced the resignation of two key thought leaders and APCOA Directors, Craig Lapsley and James Smart.
In a statement released on Tuesday, APCOA expressed its gratitude for their years of commitment and support.
Craig Lapsley, Victoria’s Emergency Management Commissioner, had been a director of APCOA for seven years. As commissioner, Lapsley is responsible for the overall response to major emergencies including coordinating the management of the consequences of emergencies.
APCOA said that over the years, Lapsley had shared his expertise and knowledge with members of APCOA through yearly events and the annual conference, with members of the organisation able to expand their understanding and gather know-how from one of the most recognised leaders in the public safety industry.
APCOA’s statement said that Commissioner Lapsley’s “continuous support throughout these years is unparalleled and will be a hard match for future directors… We will forever be grateful for Mr Lapsley’s dedication and dependability.”
James Smart is a partner at the law firm Maddocks and the firm’s Victorian State Government sector leader. He had been a director of APCOA since 2006 and the chair of APCOA for the past three years.
APCOA said that Smart had brought to APCOA his experience of over 20 years advising public safety organisations in large procurement projects, in particular ICT projects. He also assisted APCOA with legal and governance issues and presented at a number of conferences and forums for APCOA over the years.
