Memorial service for first responders in May
Friday, 08 April, 2022
On 6 May, AFAC will be holding the National Memorial Service at the National Emergency Services Memorial in Canberra to honour the fire and emergency services personnel who have died in the line of duty. An AFAC Memorial Medallion will be presented to families and the service will also acknowledge names added to the memorial wall, which lists all who have died in the line of duty since records began.
Already this year, there has been multiple occasions where emergency services personnel have died making the community safe. AFAC National Council honours Dean Neal, who died in a helicopter crash in Victoria last March. Dean was an esteemed member of the aerial firefighting community and a respected and accomplished pilot in the national Aerial Intelligence Gathering program with Microflite.
