Anritsu’s Microwave Technology Center (MTC Fab) can now provide thin film fabrication services that are said to help companies optimise device performance and bring products from first prototypes through manufacturing volume quickly and cost effectively.

Combining more than two decades of operation with advanced technology, the MTC Fab can manufacture circuits for microwave applications, multilayer systems (MCM-D), thin film sensors, resistor networks, attenuator circuits, hybrid circuits and power hybrids used in telecommunications, defence, automotive, civil aviation and space, biotechnology, medical and calibration designs.

Featuring a 557 m2 class 100/1000 cleanroom, the centre is equipped with a line of manufacturing and test equipment to fabricate a variety of thin film devices to users’ specifications. User-specific services can be provided, including thin film depositions, resistor laser trimming, substrate laser drilling, photolithography patterning and device singulation services.

The Fab equipment can support high-mix circuit needs. Devices can be fabricated on a variety of form factors, including 5-, 4-, 3.25-, 2- and 1″ square and round substrates, with thicknesses up to 125 mm. Devices can be made with various materials, including alumina, fused silica, silicon, glass and titanium. An ISO9001-certified Quality Assurance Program, which includes a variety of wire and ribbon bonding tests, is instituted to ensure products meet customer requirements.

“Our engineers have extensive experience with circuit processing technologies, and work closely with our customers’ designers to develop the optimal fabrication processes to achieve their circuit design. They are complemented by our team of CAD professionals, who help lay out engineering and prototype arrays to meet our customers’ quality and time-to-market needs,” said Donn Mulder, Vice President and General Manager, Anritsu’s Microwave Measurements Division (MMD).
