New company has fourfold focus

Australia’s latest company handling public safety and emergency communications networks, Airwave Solutions Australia, introduced its portfolio of services at the Radio Comms Connect exhibition and conference in Melbourne.

According to Mark Ward, the company's business development manager, the company will focus on four key service areas: consulting and network assessment - targeted at smoothing the migration to digital and IP-based technologies; network management - covering all aspects of network planning, design, implementation and operation; mobile data - including both applications and hardware to provide advanced mobile data handset functionality; and sites and facilities - spanning acquisition, capacity engineering and leasing.

“In response to the ACMA’s proposed changes to spectrum allocations in the 400 MHz band, public safety agencies will need to consider how they’re going to make the transition from analog to digital and IP-based technologies,” Ward said.

“Airwave in Britain has already been through this process, and now operates a highly resilient national network across England, Scotland and Wales, servicing more than 250 police, fire, ambulance and public safety agencies. We can use this experience of a shared network environment and provide insight into how to achieve it here in Australia.”
