NSW Telco Authority MD resigns
Shaun Smith (pictured) has resigned as managing director of the NSW Telco Authority, to take on a broader role working on major reforms and transformation initiatives across the Department of Finance, Services and Innovation.
The new managing director is Phillip King.
Smith, who had spent more than four years at the Telco Authority, said his resignation came with “mixed emotions”.
“As some of you may know, for the last two months I have been acting as the head of the Strategic Programs & Performance Management Office in the Department of Finance, Services and Innovation. Last week, I was formally appointed to this position,” Smith said in a statement.
“During my time at the Telco Authority, I have seen it grow from a small group of government radio specialists to the current-day authority that is recognised for its role and expertise across the operational communications sector in NSW and nationally,” Smith said.
“This is largely on the back of a great deal of hard work by the team and I thank them for all their dedication and efforts over the last few years.
“I accepted my new position after much deliberation and with complete confidence that Phillip King will more than ably continue to fulfil the role of managing director,” he added.
“In addition to acting in this role during previous periods, Phil has been acting managing director for the past two months and must be credited for the exceptional leadership he has shown in this role.
