Canada-based Neoterra Systems, producer of fleet management products, has signed a distributorship agreement with The Orion Network in Australia and New Zealand.

The agreement will enable Orion to provide advanced telematics services on its Motorola powered MOTOTRBO Connect Plus network through the integration of Neoterra’s neoConneX software and connexBOX hardware - in effect, providing the ability to converge digital radio communications with event-based information for business operations.

“We believe this integrated solution represents a real game changer for certain industries,” says Hamish Duff, Orion’s founding director. “For example, organisations with a time-sensitive supply chain or cargo will be able to utilise precision location reporting to improve vehicle utilisation and informed decision-making via Neoterra’s Fast Adaptive Structured Tracking (FAST) protocol.”

Using FAST, a single over-the-air transmission can contain up to 105 GPS positions, with a position recorded every 5 s.

Neoterra’s ConnexBOX XL will underpin Orion’s vehicle monitoring solution providing the telemetry and event-based reporting capability. A key benefit of this device is its flexibility to integrate with a customer’s existing system, supporting multiple inputs, serial data and onboard vehicle diagnostics.

The connexBOX XL also connects mobile data terminals with the capabilities of The Orion Network providing an end-to‐end voice and data solution, with access to an extensive range of services.

“We are expecting that competitive businesses with an emergency response function, transportation and logistics focus, or responsibility for the delivery of critical services will quickly adopt this new technology and are confident that our advanced digital network will deliver significant cost savings to businesses seeking to streamline their allocation of resources,” concluded Duff.

Companies that require one integrated communication solution that can support existing business applications will realise the many benefits of the advanced digital network provided by MOTOTRBO technology and The Orion Network.

The Orion Network is backed by a group of Australia’s communication companies: Mastercom (Sydney), Mobile Masters (Perth), Crosscom (Melbourne), Gencom (Newcastle), Queensland Communications (Brisbane) and Tetracom (Adelaide).
