Registration closing soon for RadComms 2022

RadComms, the ACMA’s biggest spectrum management event, is returning this month after a four-year hiatus, with the theme of Making Waves.

Since 2007, RadComms conferences have been bringing together people from government and industry, as well as analysts, researchers and those interested in spectrum reform and innovation. This year’s event is set to explore spectrum as an economic enabler for the digital and connected economy — how will spectrum help deliver the applications and technologies that will shape our commercial, social and individual futures?

The two-day conference will feature presentations from industry and academics, panel discussions and Q&As on topics including:

  • Satellites — platform innovation
  • Licensing and allocation frontiers
  • New frontiers
  • Meeting under-served markets
  • Resilience through innovation in spectrum
  • Electromagnetic energy — working with industry and the community
  • 5G — the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The event includes an exciting line-up of speakers from government and industry, with keynote speakers including Minister for Communications Michelle Rowland, Dr Claire Naughtin from CSIRO and Anna Brakey from the ACCC.

The Hon Michelle Rowland MP was sworn in as Minister for Communications under Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and currently serves as President of the NSW Labor Party. Rowland was elected to the House of Representatives in 2010 and, before her appointment as Minister, served as Shadow Minister for Communications from 2016. Prior to entering parliament, she was a senior lawyer specialising in competition and regulation in the telecommunications, media and technology sectors.

Dr Clair Naughtin, Senior Research Consultant at CSIRO’s Data61, co-led the delivery of CSIRO’s once-in-a-decade Our Future World report, which she will be presenting as part of her address on the seven global megatrends impacting the way we live over the coming decades and the risks and opportunities that they present for the future. She is passionate about bridging the gap between research and application, leading future-focused, strategic foresight projects for government and industry.

Anna Brakey, in her role as Commissioner of the ACCC, chairs the Infrastructure Committee, Communications Committee, Electricity Markets Inquiry Board and East Coast Gas Market Board and is a member of the ACCC’s Competition Exemptions Committee and Agriculture Board. She is an Associate Member of the ACMA, with extensive experience in regulatory economics and public policy.

The event will be held from 15–16 November at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne. Tickets are limited and registration closes on 9 November, so make sure you book now for your chance to engage with experts, participate in open forums and share the latest spectrum developments and trends.
