Simoco gains CAP compliance
Simoco’s range of professional radio equipment has gained P25 compliance assessment program approval that ensures interoperability across multiple vendors’ P25 radio equipment.
A partnership between the US National Institute of Standards and Technology, the US Department of Homeland Security and the radio industry developed the P25 CAP to ensure interoperable communication between P25 equipment, ensuring emergency services have access across regions and enabling them to co-ordinate responses to accidents and emergencies.
The recognition process requires radios to be tested in a P25 certified laboratory for specification compliance as determined in the TIA standard, as well as demonstrate interoperability with at least three other radio infrastructure vendors.
“Interoperability testing was conducted on the Simoco SRM9000 mobile transceiver and the SRP9180 portable radio in both VHF and UHF bands with Motorola, Harris and EF Johnson trunked systems. Both of the systems have now achieved CAP recognition," said Ian Carr, Simoco CEO.
“The assessment also means that terminals can now operate on government-owned networks such as the NSW GRN in Australia, which has CAP conformance and secure configuration requirements," said Carr.
Users on the GRN network will now be able to use the Xmode capability of Simoco radios, which are claimed to be the only terminals capable of operating in multiple radio modes such as analog trunking and digital trunking in a single handset.
