Travel bubble opens, with new speakers to join Comms Connect NZ program
The announcement this week that New Zealand will open its border to Australia from 19 April has immediately had a positive impact on preparations for Comms Connect's first live event in over 18 months: Comms Connect NZ.
Chris Stevens will join the conference program as co-moderator and will deliver his well-received presentation from Comms Connect Virtual last year: 'Big data integration — using the power of GIS as an integration tool for spatial and non-spatial data'.
Two more additions to the program in the last week are Mike Smith, Chairman of the Wireless Internet Service Providers Association of NZ, who will deliver a paper titled 'Internet of Things — a role for wireless ISPs in rural IoT'; plus AREC Chairman Don Robertson, who will deliver a session titled 'Supporting New Zealand's SAR, Civil Defence and other emergency services through expert volunteers'.
With the travel bubble opening up, the event is now expected to attract a number of critical communication and public safety professionals from Australia to add to the already strong registration numbers from New Zealand.
