Update on Comms Connect and virtual training
Amidst Western Australia and New Zealand border closures, Omicron outbreaks in the eastern states and industry supply chain issues, the Comms Connect team, in consultation with key sponsors, associations and industry stakeholders, has made the tough decision to move the coming Melbourne event from early March to 18–20 October.
“This will give all involved the best chance to be part of what has become known as the largest gathering of public safety and critical comms professionals in the Southern Hemisphere,” WF Media Managing Director Geoff Hird commented earlier this week.
“The health and wellbeing of all our stakeholders was the key factor in this decision, along with concerns about the opportunity to deliver ROI for sponsors, delegates and our industry partners, given the ongoing uncertainty around COVID. We look forward to further building on the current excellent conference and expo platform over the coming months, to ensure the best outcome for all in October. We thank all our partners for their positive support of this tough call,” Hird added.
In other Comms Connect news, Comms Connect NZ will take place at the new, state-of-the-art Te Pae Christchurch Convention & Exhibition Centre on 11–12 May. The RFUANZ and Comms Connect teams will formally launch the event next week with a call for papers and save the date announcement. Ticket sales will open early next month.
The successful Comms Connect virtual training series, launched in April 2020, will continue between March and June this year, with three courses on offer: Radio Comms 101 (March), Microwave Radio Masterclass (April) and Digital Land Mobile Radio (May). Dates and details will follow next week, with each course limited to just 20 students.
