Edward Parkinson, US FirstNet Authority Chief Executive Officer, has announced his decision to leave the authority. He is moving to RapidSOS as president for public safety.
Previously serving as acting CEO of FirstNet, Parkinson took the helm three years ago with responsibility for overall management of all FirstNet Authority operations and the agency’s strategic direction, to include its unique public-private partnership to deploy and improve the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network.
In a broad email to the global community, he stated: “It has been an amazing journey for me with FirstNet. Starting 12 years ago as a congressional staff member working on the legislation that created FirstNet, up to today serving as the CEO.”
Brad Morell will continue to manage FirstNet’s international engagement.
