Motorola Solutions and Skyscape Cloud Services have partnered to “significantly accelerate the cost-effective delivery of smart public safety solutions to UK government agencies via the cloud”, according to a Motorola statement.

The companies said the agreement is set to advance mission-critical capabilities through a cloud-delivered software as a service (SaaS) model.

“We see the delivery of cloud-based public safety services as an absolute imperative,” said Andrew Gill, vice president, growth and alliances, Europe & North Africa, Motorola Solutions.

“This partnership places us in a leading position to support government policy and initiatives such as Cloud First and the G-Cloud Framework, bringing secure communications interoperability, command and control collaboration, and a wealth of next-generation services to the front line where it is needed most.”

The UK government-operated G-Cloud program is an established mechanism for the delivery of cloud-based services.

Motorola Solutions said that partnering with Skyscape Cloud Services “delivers immediate credibility and unmatched experience to establish a leading presence as a supplier of cloud-based products to government agencies”.

Motorola Solutions envisions the controlled operational expense of cloud-based delivery, with low to no upfront capital expenditure of multiple products and services such as:

  • WAVE Work Group Communications providing communications interoperability and broadband push-to-talk (PTT), delivering real-time voice and data securely over any network using any device.
  • DragonForce for collaborative command and control, shared situational awareness and incident management.

“We are delighted to announce our partnership with Motorola Solutions, a like-minded organisation that is striving to bring innovative and cost-effective services to the UK public sector,” said Simon Hansford, CEO of Skyscape Cloud Services.

“With pressure on public finances set to continue, we look forward to supporting Motorola Solutions in delivering agile services to the public sector market and, ultimately, better value for British citizens and taxpayers.”

Skyscape’s partner ecosystem will also be of value in further developing Motorola Solutions’ future offerings, both for use on G-Cloud and in future regional offerings.
