A custom-designed transportable radio kit offers reliable communications to field staff and emergency services personnel when requiring a temporary emergency base or temporary high-power radio in a vehicle. The transportable mobile radio is a complete radio unit, consisting of a Tait TM8000 or TM9000 mobile radio in a rugged waterproof case with an interconnect board that interfaces with an internal high-capacity rechargeable battery, input/output ports and various optional features.

The device has been designed to provide reliable communications for public-safety field officers working in critical situations where normal communications systems may be unavailable or disrupted. It has a long shift life and high-capacity battery pack, lasting 16 h at 15 W. The removable battery pack can be kept and charged separately, whilst an external power option allows the unit to be powered by the car or truck accessory supply or by other external sources.

The TMR is available in three configurations; designed to accommodate different levels of use, each of these can be fitted with custom options. Accessories are available to maximise the applications, including external microphones, GPS and data recording.
