Anritsu has successfully demonstrated stable peak data throughput for a Category 9 LTE device and network simulator using 3x Carrier Aggregation (3x CA).

Using devices featuring an LTE Advanced modem from Qualcomm Technologies and Anritsu’s MD8430A/RTD LTE Simulator, the company was able to successfully show support of 3x Carrier Aggregation (CA) with three LTE FDD or TDD component carriers, each with a bandwidth of up to 20 MHz, allowing Category 9 end-to-end peak data rates of up to 450 Mbps in the downlink.

“Anritsu is pleased to work with Qualcomm Technologies in support of our latest advance to 3x CA,” said Wade Hulon, president of Anritsu. “This achievement builds on our world’s-first announcement of Category 6 capability with Qualcomm Technologies in January. We look forward to enabling development of consumer devices that support this ultrafast technology.”

The MD8430A is a scalable LTE network simulator, with six models ranging from functional test model (FTM) to enhanced test model (ETM), and available software options for both LTE FDD and TDD for any model. The associated rapid test designer (RTD) graphical test software enables quick scripting of tests, with an intuitive user interface as well as available layer 3 and lower-layer libraries.
