Colombian TETRA supported by Sepura
A complete TETRA system has been supplied, installed and commissioned by Sepura for the public transport network of Pasto Municipality in Colombia.
Sepura’s technology comprises Nebula TETRA infrastructure, a fleet management and control centre and over 550 mobile and portable radios, and is designed to optimise service and reduce travelling and waiting times.
It forms part of a project to equip the country’s major cities with integrated public transport systems.
“TETRA is just taking off in Colombia, and of the eight contracts awarded to date, we have been selected to participate in six,” said Jairo Gómez, Sepura’s country manager for Colombia.
“This reaffirms our market-leading position not only in this territory, but in the provision of critical communications worldwide.”
In addition to managing communication between all staff on the network, the solution provides near-real-time information — such as location, alarms or events — which, in conjunction with an intelligent transportation system, allows the redeployment of resources to minimise delays, as well as providing up-to-date passenger information via the passenger information system.
The project was awarded by LG CNS on behalf of Avante SEPT.
