Greek coast guard overhauls its comms technology
The Hellenic Coast Guard is installing an integrated communication system — courtesy of Frequentis and Space Hellas — in a bid to enhance search and rescue operations and maritime safety for the Greek coastline.
The system is based on Frequentis’s MarTRX product suite, an integrated control centre solution which combines communication flows and assets into a single user interface.
Khashayar Saravandi-Rad, Frequentis Vice President Maritime, said the MarTRX system was designed to improve operator decision-making and situational awareness.
“The intuitive user interface includes optimised workflows […] that support the operator with their day-to-day work,” he said.
“[It] integrates all functions so that operators can focus on the results rather than memorising individual processes.
“We are looking forward to implementing this solution for the Hellenic Coast Guard, supporting their goals for enhanced safety and operator experience.”
The project includes the modernisation of the communications system of the joint rescue coordination centre (JRCC), the Hellenic Coast Guard Operation Centre (OC) and the Coastal Radio Station (CRS) in Aspropyrgos.
It will be delivered in cooperation with Frequentis’s Greek partner, Space Hellas. An eight-year maintenance period is also included during the guaranteed system operation period.
