Motorola wins praise for GC2018 efforts

Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games official radiocommunications supplier Motorola Solutions has reported strong and reliable performance from its radio network supporting the Games.

During the 11-day global sporting competition, which drew athletes and teams from 71 nations and territories, more than 1.75 million push-to-talk radio calls were made.

Network availability and performance was also very strong, with Motorola Solutions exceeding its performance KPIs throughout the event.

“Having efficient radiocommunications is absolutely essential in the lead-up to and throughout the Commonwealth Games,” said Head of Technology for the Games Mathew Peterson.

“As the numbers show, there is a heavy reliance on radio to help manage spectators and athletes as well as running operations for a safe, smooth and successful event.
