New Zetron interface option allows broadband PTT integration

Zetron will now take orders for an interface option that enables the integration of its MAX Dispatch radio console system with AT&T enhanced push-to-talk (EPTT).

The network-based solution is built on APCO Project 25 (P25) open standards and integrates with the console subsystem interface (CSSI) primarily used by the land mobile radio (LMR) industry. 

The integration requires a software licence add-on to the CSSI licence. With this integration, dispatchers on Zetron consoles are able to communicate with AT&T EPTT users just as they would an LMR system. This offers a number of key advantages:

  • It extends radio communications to users regardless of their device, network or location. 
  • Staff members who don’t usually carry a radio still have full access to their radio resources, team members and LMR network through use of AT&T EPTT on their smartphones or tablets.
  • Using AT&T EPTT services on smart devices can reduce network loads on LMR systems. It can free up resources at critical moments while still allowing dispatchers and managers to monitor and control traffic from a console or desktop.
  • AT&T EPTT services expand the LMR coverage area without requiring investments in additional LMR infrastructure, radios, repeaters, channels or tower space.
  • AT&T EPTT is an excellent communications option for law enforcement officers, undercover detectives and security personnel who must blend into their surroundings and maintain anonymity. It provides instantaneous communications with team members and supporting resources.

“This capability helps ensure that mission-critical communications can be extended to users on the AT&T LTE network who need to maintain close connectivity and require immediate collaboration between diverse groups.”
