Ofcom spectrum clearance updates available
Updates on Ofcom’s program to clear spectrum in the 700 MHz band have been published.
The 700 MHz band is currently used to broadcast digital terrestrial TV (DTT), commonly known as Freeview, as well as for wireless communications for program making and special events (PMSE).
To make the band available for mobile broadband, these services are being moved to other frequencies. Ofcom has published details of the frequencies the DTT network will move to as part of the clearance program.
It has also published details of the clearance program activity due to be completed in the first quarter of 2018.
Clearance activity will take place in each area of the UK at different times, with the program scheduled to be completed in 2020.
