Unisys supplies US Navy messaging software

The US Navy has chosen Unisys to supply its software for mission-critical communications.

Worth $20 million, the contract will see Unisys develop, operate and manage tactical military messaging software used by the Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR).

The Navy uses message handling software to receive, validate, store and forward secure messages from military commanders to tactical military forces.

This contract is valued at up to approximately $20 million over five years. The software developed by Unisys will be used by Navy computer and telecommunications stations as well as by Navy authorities responsible for submarine communications and other critical tactical military activities.

"For years, the US Navy has trusted Unisys to help develop and maintain the secure, mission-critical software that warfighters depend upon to help them communicate during military operations," said Andrew Boyd, Group Vice President for Defense and Intelligence Agencies, Unisys Federal.

"We are proud to continue working with the Navy to ensure successful and secure communications between decision-makers and the forces they command."
