Testadvance IP-radio subsystem

Testadvance has launched the IP-Radio subsystem that integrates a VHF/UHF radio with an RRC101-IP-19 RoIP interface and power supply in a 19″ rack. IP-radio allows operators to deploy an IP-enabled radio transceiver.

The integrated interface provides radio tx/rx control, analog signalling and audio transport via its audio port. It supports raw, speex, µ-law and a-law audio codecs and transparent single- and multi-tone signalling.

Serial and parallel connections are provided via the data port and include a transparent RS232 connection and 21 GPIO lines. Audio, serial and parallel data are configured via the web-browser interface.

Each unit is connected to the internet via the ethernet port of the RRC. User and RoIP interface functions are embedded within the RRC’s application firmware which also supports client-server services. The user interface provides unit and communication status, I/O control, client-server configurations and system settings. Administrators can access and configure the RoIP adapter remotely via its IP address and a web browser.

The radio module is a software-flexible radio supporting a wide range of voice and data applications. Available frequency bands are 66-88 MHz; 136-174 MHz; 174-225 MHz; 400-470 MHz; and 450-530 MHz with 100 conventional channels at 12.5, 20 and 25 kHz. Data transport is 1200/2400 baud FFSK as standard. Maximum RF output is 25 W with four power levels.

Additional functionality can be added at any stage by installing a software licence key. The radio unit supports type 99 (2-tone) decode, full Selcall functionality, DTMF encoder and a direct connect port for external GPS. Software options include an internal high-speed data modem (12 Kbps on NB channels/19.2 Kbps on WB channels) and MDC 1200 Encode.
