Trio Datacom SmartPath mesh networking

Trio Datacom has released SmartPath, a mesh networking solution that provides enhanced connectivity and redundancy in both fixed and roaming applications.

As a feature of the company’s frequency hopping spread spectrum radios, it allows the radios to identify and intelligently rectify a problem within a network with minimal interruption to data flow.

The system has been optimised to find an alternative path only when it is necessary to do so. As the network topology reconfigures only when required, the result is lower network management overheads.

With relatively little configuration it allows remotes (or bridges) to associate with multiple access points to create a mesh network with multiple radio link paths.

If a network path breaks down, a SmartPath remote radio will re-synchronise to an alternative path and, when restored, the remote will resolve itself to its original path.

Being optimised for SCADA and telemetry systems, it provides a balance between connectivity, latency, bandwidth and system design effort by fully using all the available over-the-air bandwidth.
