Norwegian public safety network selects Sepura's TETRA
Sepura, along with channel partner VHF Communications, has been selected to supply TETRA radio terminals for Nødnett, Norway's public safety network.
dNk, the Direktoratet for Nødkommunikasjon (Directorate for Emergency Communication) - a state administrative body tasked with the development of Nødnett - chose Sepura’s STP8X and STP9000 hand-portable radios, along with the SRG3900 mobile radio, after a thorough selection process focussing on quality, price and ease of use.
Phases 3-5 of Nødnett’s implementation sees the emergency network’s extension to north, west and central Norway, where the radios will be in daily use by police and customs officers on the mainland.
Gjermund Torp, key account manager for VHF Communications, commented: “Nødnett selected VHF Communications and Sepura further to a strict and detailed tender evaluation process. This decision crowns the Sepura and VHF Communications team as one of the main suppliers to Nødnett, confirms our market leadership in the public safety sector in the Nordic countries and further strengthens the longstanding and successful partnership between our organisations. We are committed to maintaining the highest levels of customer satisfaction and will ensure we continue meeting Norwegian public safety users’ communications needs”.
Speaking for Sepura, Senior Business Development Manager Lars-Magnus Gustafsson said: “We are extremely pleased that Sepura has been chosen to contribute to the development of Nødnett, one of the most modern TETRA networks in Europe and the defining element of Norway’s national mission-critical strategy. This is a significant order - VHF Communication’s largest single contract in Norway to date - and reflects the confidence and trust dNk have in our award-winning terminals.”
