Royal Brunei Police gets Motorola TETRA
The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) has awarded Motorola Solutions a multimillion-dollar contract to provide a nationwide TETRA network.
The RBPF is establishing a National Digital Communication System (NDCS) as part of its Strategic Planning Programme from 2007-16 to improve service effectiveness and quality for government agencies that provide public security and safety services.
The new network will be the first nationwide TETRA deployment for government agencies in Brunei. A principle aim is to eliminate duplication of resources and provide centralised emergency and operational information using encrypted, two-way digital radio communications. The NDCS eventually will be extended to other emergency and government agencies, which will enhance communications across agencies during joint operations.
As part of a local consortium, Motorola Solutions will supply and deploy redundant Dimetra IP TETRA switches and base stations plus more than 5000 portable and mobile radios for RBPF and other key government agencies.
When fully implemented, the NDCS will cover other government agencies including the Fire & Rescue Department, Ambulance Service, National Disaster Management Centre, Narcotics Control Bureau, Royal Custom, Immigration & Labor, Land Transport and Marine Department.
