Simoco presents at AusRAIL PLUS 2013
Simoco is demonstrating its range of railway communications technology at this year’s AusRAIL PLUS, at the Sydney Exhibition and Convention Centre in Australia, 26-28 November.
On display is Simoco’s Queensland Train Radio System (QTRS), which has been developed in collaboration with freight operator Pacific National to meet the needs and challenges of operating trains across different regions of Queensland. The QTRS system combines radio and GPS to enable automatic channel allocation, ensuring seamless communication with rail control centres throughout Queensland.
Simoco is also presenting its rail business communication solution, which is designed to enable both voice and data through Next-G to allow drivers to connect a laptop to a virtual private network (VPN). The driver interface, which comprises a SRM9030Plus radio control head, enables locomotive drivers to manage both incoming and outgoing calls via a telephone-style handset linked to an Iridium satellite phone. This offers an integrated communication solution; ideal for emergency call backup.
Simoco has provided turnkey communication solutions to many of Australia’s largest railway and mining operators including: Pacific National, Fortescue Metals, Pilbara Iron and BHP.
