Tait’s mission-critical series launches

Tait Communications has launched its latest innovation in mission-critical digital radio communications.

The company’s 9400-series solution is suitable for global public safety agencies, such as police and fire, that rely on resilient, interoperable communications to carry out their work safely and efficiently.

It features the company’s small P25-capable handheld radio, incorporating an internal GPS, Bluetooth wireless technology and digital encryption technology.

The complete end-to-end P25 system, including the core network, was designed entirely by Tait.

The system, which was designed and manufactured at Tait global headquarters in Christchurch, was demonstrated to delegates at the annual APCO Conference and Expo in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in August.

Frank Owen, managing director of Tait Communications, said, “Our key objective in the design was to meet and then exceed the demanding needs of our public safety customers, and we have achieved that.

“The core components in the Tait P25 Phase 2 solution have been engineered to exceed the changing requirements of public safety personnel such as police and fire responders. At the same time, they offer a sound investment for agencies seeking a long-term solution, through adherence to proven open standards.

“The technology will help ensure that those operating in demanding and often life-threatening conditions can do so safely and efficiently.”
