Tait solution saves US county almost $1m
Tait has commissioned hundreds of portable and mobile radios for emergency services in a Mississippi county.
The complete integration of 400 Tait portables and mobiles into Panola County’s existing system will allow the county to communicate with 27 agencies statewide including the 14 fire and 5 police departments under their dispatch.
The project was completed alongside US dispatch console provider Avtec, which provided its Scout dispatch consoles.
The county, which operates on the Mississippi Wireless Integrated Network (MSWIN) system, was previously using a range of different branded radios that were failing to communicate with each other and which Panola County Emergency Operations say were posing a risk to the public safety.
“Tait believes in providing communications solutions that offer emergency services agencies freedom, flexibility and choice. We’re pleased that we’ve been able to provide Panola County with the equipment they need to operate effectively to improve safety for the front line officers and the people of Panola County,” said James Kyd, chief marketing officer at Tait.
Panola County Emergency Operations Director Daniel Cole said that the choice to go with Tait and Avtec saved the county crucial public funds.
“Initially, the project to upgrade to the statewide system was priced at $1.6 million but we chose to go to market for the radios and dispatch consoles and Tait was able to deliver a solution that met all our requirements and saved us in the neighbourhood of $900,000.”
