The Thames Valley Police Force in the UK is replacing 675 of its fixed and vehicle-based mobile radios with new Sepura SRG3900 GPS units.

The force is the largest non-metropolitan police force in England and Wales, serving more than two million residents throughout Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, including rural areas with sub-optimal network coverage.

The Sepura unit was chosen following a rigorous selection process that focused on factors such as PEI interface capability and gateway functionality. A long-term user of Sepura handheld radios, the force also chose the SRG3900 GPS to capitalise on the common user interface to reduce training costs.
