The TM8100 is a robust, software-flexible, analog mobile radio suitable for a wide range of voice and data applications, particularly as a dispatch platform for fleet communication and management.

The radio supports a conventional polling vehicle location format and a direct connect port for an external GPS receiver, allowing for simple development of an AVL solution. With a suitable control application, it is possible to locate the radio and track its movements.

GPS data in the radio can be used to monitor fleet activities, while the radio is used for voice communications. When used with the GPS unit, the radio supports applications such as mobile alarm monitoring or asset tracking where no user intervention is required.

The device supports 1200 baud FFSK data out of the box and offers high-speed data transmission (up to 19.2 Kbps) through an internal modem (software-based option). With a transmitter rise time of less than 10 ms and very low group delay, it is a good platform for data applications. The unit has large options board spaces, and multiple ports for accessory connectors. Intended for use in conventional system applications, this radio can be fitted into a wide range of motor vehicles and is equally suited to fixed operation in dispatch terminals or telemetry outstations.
