GPS receiver modules

Fastrax has released its iTrax310 and uPatch300 OEM GPS receiver modules that use the SiRF chipsets.

The device provides the SiRFstarIII receiver functionality using the low power SiRF GSC3f/LP chip. The module has a form factor of 13.1 x 15.9 mm. The receiver provides low power and fast TTFF together with weak signal acquisition and tracking capability and is pin compatible to SEMCO GPD14B01007. The module is available with SiRF GSW3 firmware.

The module provides signal processing from antenna to serial data output in either NMEA messages or in SiRF binary protocol. A second serial port is also available for differential corrections or for custom purposes.

The module requires a power supply VCC, a backup supply voltage VDD_RTC for non-volatile RTC and RAM blocks and GPS antenna input signal.

It interfaces to the user’s application via two serial ports, two control signals, PPS timing signal and programmable GPIO signals. Serial data and all I/O signal levels are CMOS compatible. The input supports passive and active antennas and also provides an internally generated antenna bias supply.

The module is an OEM GPS device that provides the SiRF single chip receiver GSC3LP functionality with an internal 8 Mb flash memory. The receiver provides fast TTFF together with weak signal acquisition and tracking capability. The module runs SiRF firmware.

The transceiver provides complete signal processing from antenna to serial data output in NMEA messages (default). The module interfaces to user applications via one serial port, two control signals, PPS timing signal. Serial data and all I/O signal levels are CMOS compatible.

The antenna input supports external active antennas. Switching to an external antenna is handled automatically.
