Sierra Monolithics has released a range of single-chip WiMAX compliant orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transceivers.

Units are available that comply with the latest revision of the IEEE 802.16 standard for wireless metropolitan area networks, also known as WiMAX and WirelessMAN.

SMI has broadband wireless chipsets and evaluation boards for 2.5 to 3.5 and 5 GHz that are designed to interface with an Intel baseband IC and other ICs from Wavesat, Sequans, and Telecis.

Receive features include: -98 dBm sensitivity; 64 QAM supported from -78 to -10 dBm; input 1 dB compression point >0 dBm for interference immunity.

Transmit features include: 60 dB gain adjustment range support sub-channelling >+24 dBm output power.
