CommScope i.Scan digital scanner with added functionality
To assist network testers in mixed signal environments, Andrew Solutions, a CommScope division, has introduced new functionality to its i.Scan digital scanner to make measuring GSM channels easier.
Testing the quality and coverage of wireless networks especially as new technologies are introduced in mixed frequency bands is now performed more quickly.
The company has added signal processing techniques that more rapidly filter out wideband signals and analyse GSM channels in a mixed technology mobile environment.
This means that network testers will no longer need to know the GSM channel sets in advance of testing since the device will sort the channels automatically. The result is faster scan rates than those that occur when traditional scanning receivers try to decode mixed RF signals, freeing network testers to better use i.Scan’s processing power.
The receiver can measure and decode GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, EV-DO, HSDPA and LTE technologies. With two downconverter modules that can test up to six frequency bands simultaneously, the unit offers wireless operators multifunctionality and an upgrade path. The device communicates using standard ethernet connections and has a plug-and-play design.
