GainSpan has released GS1011 chip and module products and a suite of embedded and serial to Wi-Fi software.
The Wi-Fi software uses little power, so products can run for years on standard batteries.
A secondary network processor offloads Wi-Fi services from the host processor and supports the networking stack. Users can then connect any 8- to 32-bit microcontroller to the equipment and get Wi-Fi quickly and easily. Nearly any device can use the large installed base of Wi-Fi access points to gain internet connectivity.
