RF Micro Devices Inc has extended its product range with multiple cellular power amplifiers, transmit modules and front-end modules targeting all tiers of GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 3G multimode handsets.
The products, which are tiered by market segment, include dual-band GSM/GPRS power amplifier modules and transmit modules, quad-band GSM/GPRS power amplifier modules and transmit modules, quad-band EDGE polar modulator power amplifier modules and quad-band linear EDGE transmit modules.
The company has unveiled front-end solutions for 3G multimode handsets to include a UMTS transmit solution that integrates two power amplifiers and a DC-DC converter to support multi-region (broadband) 3G mobile communication devices.
This is claimed to provide the highest efficiency and the greatest flexibility for 3G platforms supporting multiple regions. The solutions also include three integrated (narrowband) front-end modules, that support regions one, two and five.
Each module incorporates the power amplifier, transmit SAW filter and duplexer, which reduce the needs of I/O interface and the integration complexity faced by 3G multimode handset designers.
