RFI has released a range of RF-over-fibre (RF/OF) modules. Typical applications include the remote locating of antennas and repeater amplifier (booster) applications in tunnels, mines and large building complexes.

When used with RFI Crossband Couplers these units provide the capability for multi-band operation across the VHF, UHF and 800 MHz bands.

The modules are available in a range of configurations including separate Tx and Rx fibre ports or full duplex Tx/Rx using wave division multiplexing (WDM). Models are available to cover operating frequencies of 100 up to 2500 MHz and may be used for both analog and digital technologies.

The range can be used in a wide variety of wireless applications including voice, data, trunking, cellular and WLAN. Other options include: RS232 supervisory channel; alarm and diagnostics monitoring signals; and multiple-wavelength operation to provide multiple back-channel capability for applications including trunking, voting and telemetry applications.
